As of November 1, 2008, North Carolina inspection stickers
changed to electronic stickers. No longer will a physical sticker be placed on your windshield. As required by
law, vehicles will be given an electronic authorization which will be sent to the DMV database after completion of the inspection.
If your vehicle is registered in North Carolina, use the sticker calculator below to see when your vehicle is required to
be inspected. If you vehicle is new to the state, you must get your vehicle inspected prior to obtaining a NC license
plate.

Window tint is tested by a meter that measures the amount of light that is able to transmit through the
window. As per NC state law, any vehicle with after factory window tint (tint that is applied to the glass) that
allows less than 35% of light through the window, WILL NOT comply. For most passenger cars (two or four door sedans
such as camrys, accords, altimas) all windows have to comply with the 35% law. For trucks and SUV's, only the driver
& passenger front windows must comply. Window tint on a windshield will not comply with NC law. A $10 fee
must be collected in addition to the inspection fee for after factory window tint.
